If you are looking for a truly unique item, consider bartering for one of these beautiful blanket chests. This is a SAMPLE and is not for barter specifically.
These are a popular wedding gift. This example has a Scottish clan crest, Gaelic knot (scaled to match a wedding band detail) and maple leaf hand carved into the dovetailed oak chest. High end hardware, including a shaped in, working key hole were also included in this piece. This is of course finished with aromatic cedar and a sliding inner drawer.
The customer is always right, so if you have ideas about what you would like on the chest, material, finish etc. - that can all be discussed. These items require about 80-100 hours of total labour (depending on carving details, etc), so some lead time would be needed if you are considering this as a special occassion gift.
These would be commissioned pieces and the cost (barter)would vary on design and materials.
