Saturday's Eco Fashionista Swap

Sep 16th 2010, 14:40, by Swapsity

While most fashionistas flock to the mall on weekends to check out the latest trends, one group of eco-friendly shoppers had a much greener agenda this past Saturday.

Enthusiastic accessory and jewellery lovers turned out to GreenInstead for our Eco Fashionista Swap Meet armed with handbags, shoes, scarves, brand new perfume, and jewellery.

Upon arrival, we invited the ladies to lay out their items on tables and, soon enough, they were jam-packed with accessories of every kind and colour. It didn't take long for everyone to enjoy the refreshments and start introducing themselves, chatting about the pieces they wanted and even trading advice on eco-friendly products. By 11:45am, we were ready to get the show on the road.

To keep swapping fair, we pulled names from a hat and the girls took turns each choosing one item. We did this for a few rounds before opening the swapping up. Literally, it was a free-for-all!

Everyone walked away with several pre-loved fashion accessories. The best part: items were recycled and found new owners, who had a lot of kudos for the event.

One participant, who swapped her hand-made earrings, handbag and bracelet for hat, bracelet and necklaces, was thrilled to see her stuff taken and inquired about our next swap event. She said of the swap meet, “It’s a friendly environment—casual, great finds! Awesome!â€

Another swapper, who picked up a pair of perfectly fitting shoes, said that the event was “good for us and the environment.† She was enthusiastic about being able to get fashion accessories which someone else didn’t need anymore for free.

We hope that if you didn't make it out this time, you'll join us soon for another fashion swap. It's a brilliant way to spend a Saturday.
